Welcome to PEACE, the cultural hub of AZ Preston and the University of the West Indies. We are a student-ran organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of our university and its surrounding communities. Our eight different arms - Sign language, Art and Craft, Dance, Drama & Elocution, Culinary, Chorale, and Photography - offer a wide range of opportunities for students to express themselves and develop their creative skills.

The Eight Arms of P.E.A.C.E
SIGN LANGUAGE
The goal of the PEACE Sign Language Arm is to raise awareness of the deaf communities while also providing a space for those learning sign language to come together and practice the language in an interactive environment while learning deaf culture and norms through fun engaging activities as well as developing skills, knowledge and a stronger connection with people in which can be applied in our own lives.
DANCE
The dance arm seeks to create an avenue for dance as a form of expression, converting one’s thoughts and feelings into beautiful, poetic motion. We believe the art form is open to any and everyone and this is a mantra we live by daily. Additionally, the dance arm teaches individuals the art of different forms of dance, to incorporate many other cultures’
dance and music into themes to create awareness, to educate members on the history and origin of dances as well as their significance to societies’ identity.
DRAMA & ELOCUTION
The Drama arm of PEACE prides itself in bringing out the best in Prestonites in
this aspect of the performing arts. The elocution aspect of the arm focuses on the art of speech and public speaking. This arm looks forward to producing outstanding Prestonites that can excel and
become marketable in the field of acting and the film industry as they transcend the
boundaries of Preston and the Pelican’s nest.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The photography arm is meant to be a group of people who focus on imagining, capturing and freezing a moment in order to create beauty and art. The arm aims to create the opportunities for planning photography adventures or discussing the art form with like-minded friends.
ART & CRAFT
Arts and crafts provide an opportunity for individuals to utilize their everyday
environment as an inspiration to manifest their creative ideas. The goal of this arm is to
develop an individual's expressive potential as well as their appreciation for the arts.
Through PEACE, Prestonites can hone their creative skills and discover their untapped potential.
CHORALE
The chorale arm of P.E.A.C.E. aims to develop the musical skills of Prestonites through weekly lessons about music, whether it be singing or playing an instrument, all while still having fun.
If you’re looking for the perfect way to release some stress, make connections in the hall and learn a fun, new skill, the chorale arm is the perfect arm for you.
CULINARY
This arm highlights the art of cooking, baking and creating impeccable dishes. Food is definitely an art form and to master it would mean to master the key to the world. As with any other creative art, cooking is very therapeutic and is a means of expressing one’s self. This arm hopes to help Prestonites develop, embrace and hone their culinary skills in the best way possible.
